How long will it take to get me organized?
There is no set or easy answer to this question since each organizing project is different and unique. It really depends on how "challenging" your particular situation is.
The total number of hours required will vary depending on several factors including:
- the scope, time frame and specifics of the project
- the type of services needed
- how quickly you can adapt to the necessary steps of the process and make decisions and choices
- your involvement and commitment level, including how well you complete any "homework" you might be asked to do between sessions
If the only time you focus on organizing is during appointments, obviously it will go slower.
very important to understand that:
- it can take time to undo bad habits acquired over a lifetime
- setting up an organizing system may only take a short time,
but lasting success requires that you make a commitment to continuously maintaining it - organization is an ongoing process not a fixed state
Once you have good systems, acquire good habits and have the right tools, it is easier to bounce back from an unexpected detour or period of feeling overwhelmed, should they occur.
That being said, the average room in a home should take about 1-2 full, 8-hour days to organize. The average one-person office should take 2-3 days to organize. Some smaller jobs like a bathroom should take less time. Some larger jobs like a big basement or an overstuffed garage will probably take more time.
