Time Saving MetroCard Options

If you’re a busy New Yorker who regularly rides NYC subways or buses and are looking for ways to save time (and who isn’t!), you’ll love NYC Transit’s two EasyPayXpress MetroCard options: Pay-Per-Ride and 30-Day Unlimited Ride. Imagine never having to worry about your card value running out. Imagine a MetroCard that you never have to refill!

The Pay-Per-Ride option works just like any other Pay-Per-Ride MetroCard except that it automatically refills itself. You open your account with $40, using either your credit card or a debit card with a credit card company logo on it. You get 20 rides on the subways or local buses or 8 express bus rides. Just like with any other Pay-Per-Ride MetroCard, you earn the 15% bonus immediately giving you a $46 value…which means more free rides! When your account balance dips to $30, your MetroCard refills automatically with $40 (plus the 15% bonus).

The 30-Day Unlimited option works just like any other 30-Day Unlimited MetroCard except that it automatically refills itself. You open your account with $81 - the same fare you would pay at vending machines, subway booths or out-of-system vendors – and it starts when you first use it. It can be used on all subways and local buses, but NOT on express buses. Under this plan there’s also a Pay-Per-Ride option that can be used if you’ll be away on vacations, business trips, etc. You can switch back to the 30-Day Unlimited mode anytime online or by calling the EasyPay Account Service Center. At the end of every 30-Day period, your credit card will be charged $81 and your first use will start a new 30-Day period. You’ll be notified by email a few days before (in case you want to change to the Pay-Per-Ride mode).

EasyPayXpress statements listing every time you swiped your Card are available online or you can call the Service Center to request a statement. If your EasyPayXpress MetroCard is lost or stolen, call the Service Center and they will deactivate your card to protect you from unauthorized charges and send you a replacement card in the mail. Reduced-Fare Easy Pay is available for senior citizens and persons with qualifying disabilities. For more information or to apply for either card, visit the EasyPayExpress website.
