More Tips To Reduce Stress and Save Time and Money
You won't be able to get every area of your life organized in one day so don't frustrate yourself by trying! Work at a pace that is comfortable for you and remember that being organized is an ON-GOING PROCESS, not a permanently achieved state.
TIP #1 - YOUR STUFF: Find a set place for everything and put everything in its place when not in use. Keep items close to where they are mostly frequently utilized.
TIP #2 - TO DO LISTS: The fewer the lists you have the better. One list is preferable to many lists. You are less likely to forget something if you keep all of your to-dos together in one place or on one list. Don't feel guilty if you don't get everything done that's on your list. A list is just a guide to help you plan your day.
TIP #3 - PAPER MANAGEMENT: Write a discard date on a document if you know when its information will become obsolete. Once the date has passed, you will know it can be disposed of without having to take the time to read it over again.
TIP #4 - STORING SHEETS: Store clean sheets inside their matching
pillowcase. When it's time to change the bed simply take the pillowcase
from your linen closet
and you'll have the entire set in hand and ready to go.
TIP #5 - BILL PAYING: As soon as you receive a bill in the mail open the envelope, review the bill and toss/recycle any unwanted circulars or information. Write the due date on the return envelope, place the bill inside and put it in your bill-paying file in due date order. When it comes time to pay your bills, they will be organized and ready-to-go.
TIP #6 - MAGAZINE ARTICLES: Collect articles of interest from magazines and newspapers and keep them in a folder marked "Reading". Take the folder - or selected articles - with you when you go out. Read through them on the bus, subway or train, while waiting for appointments, planes, standing in lines, eating out alone, etc.
TIP #7 - SCHEDULING: Set-up a family planning calendar in a central location in your home and track each family member's appointments with a different colored pen. This will make it easy to see at a glance who has to be where and when.
TIP #8 - PROCRASTINATION: If all else fails to prevent you from procrastinating, bribe yourself with a special reward that outweighs the advantages you get from putting off a task.
TIP #9 - EMAIL ETIQUETTE: Always fill in the "Subject" line of emails you send out. This is a time saver that will enable the receiver to instantly understand what your email is about. When you're forwarding a message - unless it is a true forward - edit out the "Fwd:" in the Subject line and change it to reflect the new or evolving message contained within.
